Get the Galaxy S24 at a Discount Through Samsung’s Refurbished Program

With rising prices, a looming recession and high tariffs, dropping money on a new phone may be low on your list of budget priorities. But Samsung has added the Galaxy S24 lineup to its Certified Re-Newed site, meaning you can get a refurbished high-end device at a discount.

Samsung says phones sold through the Certified Re-Newed program are assembled by Samsung engineers and made with genuine company parts, including a brand-new battery. The devices are also backed by a one-year manufacturer’s warranty.

The prices for the refurbished Galaxy S24 series phones are:

  • Galaxy S24 Ultra Certified Re-Newed: Starts at $1,020 for 256GB and $1,140 for 512GB.
  • Galaxy S24 Plus Certified Re-Newed: Starts at $800 for 256GB and $920 for 512GB.
  • Galaxy S24 Certified Re-Newed: Starts at $620 for 128GB and $670 for 256GB.

All three phones are available in black. You can buy them through Samsung’s Re-Newed site.

By comparison, a brand new Galaxy S24 on Samsung’s site starts at $700, the S24 Plus starts at $900, and the S24 Ultra costs $1,300 (though the S24 Plus and S24 Ultra are sold out on Samsung’s site).

Should you buy a refurbished Galaxy S24 phone?

Despite being last year’s model, the Galaxy S24 series shares many similarities with the newer S25 series, including AI capabilities, camera attributes and even general appearance. In a CNET battery test, the baseline Galaxy S24 and S25 had the same outcome

And though benchmark tests place the newer phones well above the S24 lineup, most people will hardly notice a difference when carrying out everyday tasks like scrolling through social media, snapping photos and messaging. In fact, the Galaxy S24 was awarded CNET’s Editors’ Choice Award in 2024. For a closer breakdown comparing Samsung’s phones, you can check out our buying guide.

You can also trade in your old phone and get a minimum of $250 in credit toward a refurbished Galaxy S24, S23 or S22 series phone through the Certified Re-Newed program.

With the Trump administration’s sweeping tariffs casting uncertainty on the price of goods, including smartphoneslaptops and other electronics, the addition of the Galaxy S24 series to Samsung’s refurbished program could be a way to score a highly rated device at a lower cost.
